11 months & full on walker!

So Murray is walking all over the place now. Its so cute he walks with his arms in front of him... like he is sleep walking. I can't believe in a months time he will be ONE. Mom is coming and we will have a little party here at home for him and some of his and our friends.

Murray is just getting cuter by the day. Pointing at everything, looking around corners, under the couch, smiling, laughing, he even throws a ball and then claps when we say "YAY Muzzy".

He also loves dogs and birds. Every time we are in a park on somewhere where there are dogs he goes nuts. So cute. We will def have to get a dog for him in the not to far future. Maybe when we move to Tzaneen in 2 months time!

Its our last moms & babes class this week where Murray will "graduate" from the babes class. Can't believe how quickly he is growing!

See the picture below taken last week at The Chart Farm in Wynberg near our house.

10 months & first steps...

So Muz Bun is 10 months old and took his first couple of steps on his own on Thursday the 17th of May! It was so cute! He is really cruising now on all walls, doors, cupboards, chairs etc. It won't be long now before he is running! Poor little thing is sick again! Cold, high temps etc. Eish its not easy on us when he is sick. He sleeps so badly and we all have a bad night! Any way, holding thumbs he seems better today!

Other than that Muz seems to be learning new things all the time. He is pointing at everything which is so cute and laughing at dad's funny antics every day. He also now has his own training toothbrush is and is doing the motions. Is also dancing by shaking his head, very cute! He doesn't seem to be scared of much either. Goes down the slid at the park, goes on the swing and you can be quite rough with him. So cute!

Not much time for much else! Till next time...

Crawling, standing up, clapping & more teeth

So much has happened in the last few weeks and I have not had time to write. He officially crawled on the 25th of March and is now all over the place. Then a few days later he started pulling himself up to stand. He now stands in his cot when he wakes up and thinks he is very clever.

Also there are 2 teeth that have come through at the bottom. Too cute now when he smiles and laughs. I also saw yesterday that 2 more are about to come through the top row! Wow, so much happening.

We have had Gola (Granny Newton) staying with us for the last few days and its been so nice having her here. Its Easter on Sunday so we are having the Groeneveldts over for a nice lunch. Gola pointed out today that Murray is also clapping (was a bit like rubbing his hands together) but when you say, Murray clap your hands he most definitely is clapping! What a clever child! ;)

We are leaving for Tzaneen next week Thursday for Lol and Nick's big bash and will be away for about 10 days. Can't wait to see the Blight family!

Till next time... Happy Easter everyone!

A tooth!

So finally at 8 and half months Murray seems to be sprouting his first tooth. I actually think there might be 2 coming out at the same time. Its very difficult to see them, but you can defiantly feel them coming through. He doesn't seem to be (touch wood) in too much pain/discomfort from them and is just going on for now as normal. Long may that last. You keep hearing all these horror stories about teething, but then I read a very sensible piece about teething and that all the "teething symptoms" are just normal baby things as apposed to teething, so lets see. So far so good.

He is still not crawling, but is getting more and more mobile every day. We had to lower the cot because he was trying to pull himself up and so now he is much lower down and can't get out ;)

Murray is 8 months old!

I can't believe that in 4 months time I will have a 1 year old! Crazy how time flies! At the same time, I can't wait to see Murray cruising around the house and on the other hand I don't want me precious baby to grow up! He is so close to crawling now... too cute!

I have been going to Moms and Babes every week for the past couple of weeks and it has been really nice to meet new moms and new babes! So cute. Check out this picture of the babes doing "messy play" with pasta, baby cereal and jelly, Murray loved it the most and was SO dirty!

I would also like to report that I went to Lol's hens last weekend and left Murray in the capable hands of Shane all weekend. It just would have been crazy to take Murray all the way to Tzaneen with me! It was actually great to get away and have some much needed sleep and also to have a bit of a jol with my sisters! What fun, I can't wait for the wedding next month! It was just great being at home too!

On a more serious note... Murray is not sleeping so well at night these days and in effect we have one very tired mom and dad at the moment. Trying to figure out what to do and just can't bring myself to "sleep train" my child in the "cry-it-out" method that everyone talks about. I just know that Murray will scream for hours and I just can't do that to my child. I would rather wake up every night. So I am trying to find a middle ground... watch this space for more. Until then... from a cross-eyed-mom!

But other than that, Murray is just super cute at the moment. Laughs alot, eats like a king, and is generally a very happy little chap!

Till next time!

Weight gains...

I just wanted to keep a record of Murray's weight gain that I can update as time goes on... this is just for my records!

Birth: 2.995kg
Discharge weight: 2.770kg
2 weeks: 3.283kg
4 weeks: 3.88kg
8 weeks: 5.02kg
12 weeks: 5.55kg
14 weeks: 6kg
18 weeks: 6.5kg
20 weeks: 7.02kg
5 months: 7.26kg
6 months: 7.74kg
7 months: 7.97kg
8 months: 8.25kg
11 months: 9kgs

News at 7 months!

I really need to make more effort to write more often, but time is precious these days! Any way, Muz Bun is heading on 7 and half months and is just at such a cute stage. Sitting so nicely, chatting, laughing and being pretty cute most of the time. Still eating alike a champ and we are now onto eggs, leeks, spinach and a few other new things. I have just made a batch of chicken stew for him which I will try tonight for the first time. I have been putting off giving him meat for a while, but apparently the iron in meat is very important for growing babies, so alas, I give in! Not looking forward to those nappies!

Murray has just recovered from being sick for the first time. He had a really high temperature for about 3 days and then broke out into a rash! Baby measles! Poor little monkey was not happy for almost a whole week! He had to be held all night in our bed otherwise he wouldn't sleep! He also didn't eat very much for a few days... but is now much better. I would love to know where he caught that from. Baby measles is different to normal measles, its not dangerous to the baby or anyone else (including pregnant girls), its just the temperature that is the worst part.

Muz keeping cool with a high temperate. It was also about 38C on that day!

The rash that came after 3 days!

Other than that, I am going to Lol's Hens in a few weeks time and leaving Murray in Cape Town with Shane for 2 nights. Don't know who I am more worried about, myself for missing my baby too much or for Shane having to look after Murray for 2 nights alone! But it is better that I don't have to drag Murray across the country for 2 nights. Its so unsettling for him and then I can also focus on my sister and have a jol and a break for the first time in by then 8 months!

Oh and another thing to report on is that Murray has moved into a "big boy" car seat where he now faces forward! He seems much happier now that he can see out! So cute! My baby is growing up!

Muz in his "big boy" car seat!

Till next time....

I am 6 months old!

Wow! Where has this time gone? I can not believe my teeny tiny baby is now 6 months old and weighing nearly 8kgs! I took him for a general 6 month check up and he got 10/10 for progress! Weighing a nice 7.74kgs and doing well!

I started him on solids the day before Christmas and he has taken to it like a duck to water. Opens his mouth and slots about 3 table spoons of mixed veg in 5 minutes flat! I gave him avo yesterday and he seems to love that too! He was on 1 meal a day, but have just gone up to two meals a day seeing as he is going so well!

We are in the process of looking for a nanny to help look after Murray so I can try get back to working at home. Its so so difficult to find one that you can fully trust and like. I have to have faith!

Till next time!!!
